Title TZ environment variable
Ref. No. QNX.000003928
Category(ies) Utilities, Configuration
Issue I understand that Ekit is not supported, but would appreciate if you could advise if there are any plans to modify mkifs and mkcis utilities in the future so that they do not store time and date information into the QNX boot image. As they work at the moment, it is impossible to rebuild the same image which creates huge software control problems.

It would be ideal if there was a command line witch to turn this facility off. If you have any other suggestions how to get around this
problem, please let me know.

I am using QNX v4.24 and Ekit v4.23 (Beta).
Solution The 3 letter cods in the TZ variable mean nothing. You could make them your own initials if you wanted to and it would work the same.

To set it on the Europe side of GMT you use negative numbers, ie. -1 and -2

So the line may look something like:

export XAD-1XBD-2,M4.1.0/3,M10.5.0/3
