Title Lost the root password (QNX2)
Ref. No. QNX.000004426
Category(ies) Configuration
Issue The root password has been changed or forgotten on our QNX2 system. How would one go about restoring root access without reinstalling the OS?

Solution How to remove the ROOT password if it is lost or forgotten:

Via Floppy Diskette

1.  Boot up off the QNX Boot diskette.

2.  When the splash screen displays "QNX" in large letters there should be a prompt.  Now type

    qnx

3.  Now mount the hard disk using the mount command.  The command to do so may look like this on your system:

    mount disk 3 /drivers/disk.at pa=qnx

4.  Once the hard drive controller is running, change directories to /config and delete the pass file.

    rm /config/pass

This removes the password file.

NOTE:  Instead of removing the password file one can replace it with another "working" original.
