Title Landscape printing in QNX4 and pterm
Ref. No. QNX.000000482
Category(ies) Configuration
Issue How do we print in landscape mode from a QNX4 and/or Photon microGUI windowing system Shell, Vedit (in a pterm), Photon File Manager, etc.?

There is an orientation field in the
/usr/photon/print/printers file, but how do we take advantage of that option from shell based apps?

Solution Download the a2ps utility from the free software secion on the QNX website (ftp://ftp.qnx.com/usr/free/qnx4/os/utils/doc_processing/a2ps.tgz).  This program is used to convert ASCII files to PostScript. There is a landscape option to it. Then use ghostscript (www.qnx.com/cgi-bin/search/usr/free/?srch=ghostscript&select=1) to convert it to pcl, which the HP printer can then print.
