If communication drops out for more than 10 minutes 'pppd' must be restarted. Is this a timeout that is terminating 'pppd'? If so how can the timeout be extended?

| Solution |
The PPP daemon does not drop out due to timeouts, as there are no "built-in" timeouts in 'pppd'
There are several reasons that PPPD would terminate though. These are:
- 'pppd' is hit by a SIGHUP because the serial line is dropped
- 'pppd' is KILLED or SLAYED
- 'pppd's peer exits
The syslog output may show the particular events that are causing PPPD to terminate. |
