Issue |
How many QNX partitions can reside and be accessible on a single hard drive? We know of type 77 and type 78. If a third one is possible, what type should it have?
Can any partition number be accessable if we have initialized and mounted it?

Solution |
The third should be of a type 79. The maximum number of primary partitions on any EIDE Hard Drive is 4.
Type 77 is called QNX, type 78 is called QNY, type 79 is called QNZ.
To add a fourth QNX partition, choose an undefined type, like type 80. While it may not get a "known" name upon creation and when displaying it with fdisk, it's still possible to get a QNX file system installed onto it. It's also possible to boot from this parition.
Note: types 7, 8 and 9 are also QNX2 os-types and are fundamentally different, therefore they should not be used for the 4th partition.
