Issue |
When trying to install with the December 1999 QNX Product Suite CD, after the hardware scan we see the message:
Please insert the QNX Install CD into the CD-ROM Drive
Clicking on OK and then the Next F2 loops us back to the "Please insert..." message. The CD-ROM name appears in the Installed Hardware list and the device is registered as /dev/cd1.0.

Solution |
This is a bug with the installer where the Fsys.* drivers have problems with the CD-ROM drive being on the secondary IDE channel, or on a SCSI chain and mounted improperly.
The solution is to download the drvrdisk.144 disk image**(copy raw image to QNX formatted floppy) and depending on whether the CD-ROM is an EIDE or SCSI drive, the appropriate drvrdisk*.txt file from the /updates/qnx42/Released/drvrdisk/ directory in the Updates/patches section of our website. The drvrdiskide.txt file is included below:
How to use a newer Fsys.eide driver -----------------------------------
Run the installation in Diagnostic mode by pressing F12 at the welcome screen. Then select Next.
Unselect "EIDE Disk Controller" and press F2 to continue scanning for other devices.
Once the installer reports that "This install requires a CD Rom Drive to be defined before you can continue" select OK to close the dialog.
Press F5 to Add additional drivers from the diskette.
In the "Add New Hardware" dialog select "Disk Driver on Floppy" from the "Hardware Driver" pull down menu.
Press F5 to select the "From Floppy" button to continue. This will display the "Browse Floppy" dialog box.
Highlight the Fsys.eide driver and press ok to go back to the previous dialog. Press Ok to begin the hardware scan.
Once the scan has found your IDE Drives select Next and continue with the install.
**If it's not possible to download the image directly onto a QNX4 machine, you can download the image to your Windows machine using the 'makedisk.exe' utitlity from:
