We can't set up a Phindow serial session. |
| Solution |
Using the serial port on an MS box is a chancy thing, since Microsoft has so many other programs that alter its parameters. Non-North American versions of W95 in particular will often fail. If you have any trouble, it's recommended you use the -t option to create a TCP/IP link, and use the Dialup Networking features on the MS box to start a PPP session over the serial link. You would then need to have pppd watch the appropriate serial device on the QNX server node. See the TCP/IP User's Guide for details on PPP setup.
Using PPP gets around the "other fingers in the pie" problem, and since we throttle the data flow on the QNX side, you shouldn't see any problems with data overflow of the Phindows link. |
