Where do you get virtual machine reference images for QNX 7.1?

For 7.1, we do not offer Virtual Machine reference images.
Instead, you can use the new mkqnximage utility to create a virtual machine image.
For example, to create a new VMware virtual machine from a commandline, run

$mkqnximage --type=vmware

This will generate some files in your current folder, and a .vmx file that can be opened with VMware will be located in the created local/vmware_files folder. The tool will also create other files that can be used to customize your created VM.

You can also create a new virtual machine from the Momentics IDE.
From the menu bar, select File -> New -> Other..., then select QNX Target under Launch Targets. From there, select "Create a QNX Virtual Machine Target Instead". This will create a virtual machine inside your current workspace.
