Some users experience slower than expected compile times on a Windows host.
- Usage of the /userva=xxxx /3g boot options in boot.ini as described in Microsoft KB316739 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316739) can potentially constrain memory available to the build tools causing more disk access and slower compilation.
- If you have the LOGONSERVER environment variable set to a remote server it can introduce delays in compilation. The exact mechanism of the problem is unknown, but can be solved by redefining LOGONSERVER to point to your local system.
- Active malware and virus scanners have been observed to impact build times.
- Logitech camera software installs a service that monitors all processes being started for the purpose of detecting applications that are known to use the camera. Certain versions of this service (LVPrcSrv.exe) have been observed to fail during a build due to the high number of processes being started, causing it to consume 100% of the CPU.
